Cayson is in love with Skye Preston, his best friend for over twenty years. They grew up together, bathed together, and spent every holiday together. Hoarding the secret hasn’t been easy. Every time Cayson sees her with a boyfriend, he wants to smash his fist into a wall. But he could never tell her the truth. The close friendship they have is too good to be ruined. If he confessed his deepest feelings, how would it change what they have? Would he lose her altogether? But everything changes when Cayson finds Skye at a party, drunk and incoherent. Unable to stand on her own two feet with breath reeking of alcohol, she’s easy prey to the men staring at her noticeable chest. Cayson immediately scoops her into his arms and takes her home. But when they arrive at the house, Skye doesn’t want to sleep. Instead, she wants Cayson in a way she’s never had before. What will this mean for their relationship? Is it the start of something Cayson has always dreamed of? Or will it be the end?
I love E.L Todd work, I read some of her work for a year now. When she asked me to review this work I instantly agreed. I read it few month ago, and because of studies I didn’t have time to write it. So here it goes.
Skye and Cayson both grew up together, their families are best friends since almost forever, so they became instant best friends. They both told each other everything, one day Cayson fell hard for Skye, but she was so dense she technically friend zoned him till college. Cayson hated all her previous boyfriends, because none where to her expectations and she deserved better. He did all his best to forget her, this hurt me like hell, seeing him trying to forget her and all his thought where around her every minute and every second. When he decided to move on, guess what Skye finally noticed him and her feelings, she might have been confused because they were friends since forever, I would be afraid that Skye own friendship would be ruined, so she kept it to herself. Now this made me hurt more. Later on, they finally confessed to each other, but that isn’t all obviously, they been ups and down through all the book, it was a heck of a roller coaster ride.
I really enjoyed this book, I love how Todd made some chapters about other character of the story which made me more interested to the others characters. I loved the book, I truly recommend it if you’re looking for a non-instant love book. It was a fun read, many emotions, all characters where equally lovable. So yeah, read it! I recommend it! :D
"Don't you ever say that to me again. . . You're being a pain in the ass about this, Skye. I love you more than anything on this damn planet and I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe. If that means you can't trust me, fine. You'll just have to deal with that. You can throw a hissy fit and play the victim all you want, but I know without a doubt that if the situation where reversed, you would do the same for me. And, honestly I would judge you if you didn't . . ."
